Creole Salmon Filets Recipe in Lemon Garlic Sauce

I worked with Sitka Salmon Shares on this post, and the ideas expressed here are my own.

If your family is anything like ours, you may be overwhelmed with the choices in home delivery services offering meal kits and high-quality proteins from around the country. We certainly have our favorites (as you’ve probably heard). And we found another favorite in Sitka Salmon Shares, a source for home delivery of fresh-caught Alaskan seafood. This Creole Salmon Filets recipe is an easy salmon recipe – the result of Sitka Salmon Shares delivering beautiful salmon to our door.

Our box from Sitka Salmon contained two huge filets of Coho Salmon and Alaskan Cod.

Sitka Salmon Shares recently sent us a sample 2020 Premium Sitka Seafood Share box to try out, and that we did with much success. Even through its packaging I could see the fish was of the highest quality. Flash-frozen in individual pouches, one package contained a beautiful filet of pinky-red salmon large enough for two.

I don’t cook fish at home very often, because I’m always concerned I will somehow ruin it. I know how to grill fish, but preparing a salmon dish on the stove in my kitchen has always daunted me. I was afraid to try even an easy salmon recipe. Until now. It’s been too cold and rainy to grill outside and this salmon looked so delicious. We wanted to enjoy it RIGHT NOW.

Sitka Salmon Shares are Top Quality

We’re super impressed with Sitka for several reasons.

Wild: Wild-caught from the pristine waters of Southeast Alaska and the North Pacific.
Sustainable: Harvested using hook-and-line methods to minimize negative ecological impact.
Traceable: Their relationships ensure that your fish is traceable to the boats of our fishermen-owners and trusted community partners.
Fishermen-centered: Individually caught by one of their fisherman-owners or partner fishermen. Fishermen ownership makes Sitka distinct from their competition and creates a more just system that values hard work, high-quality fish and low-impact harvesting methods.
Just: Sitka fishermen receive an average of 20-30% more for their harvest, which can equate to $10,000 extra income in a given season.
Premium: Blast-frozen at the peak of freshness to ensure the highest quality, guaranteed.
Convenient: Home delivered directly to your door, with recipes and a newsletter about the fishermen who caught that month’s share.
Conscious: Carbon offsets purchased and 1% of revenue donated to efforts promoting small-scale fisheries and conservation in Alaska.

Now that sounds like a good company producing good food. Something we can authentically support!

This Creole Salmon is an easy salmon recipe that is quick and delicious. No stinky kitchen, and a family of happy campers who gobbled it up. I’m thinking this 2020 Premium Sitka Seafood Share idea is a pretty good one!

I cannot take full credit for this easy salmon recipe, and give thanks to Delish for the inspiration and basics. I changed it up a bit for our family and my kids’ picky tastes. Creole seasoning is flavorful but not too spicy, so I know my kids will eat it.

  • 3 Tbs olive oil
  • 4 salmon filets
  • 4 tsp Creole seasoning
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 Tbs salted butter
  • ¼ cup chicken broth
  • ¼ cup white wine
  • 1/3 cup lemon juice
  • 2 Tbs brown sugar
  • 1 Tbs fresh parsley, chopped
  • 4 Tbs Parmesan cheese, grated

Pat salmon filets dry with paper towel. Divide 1 tablespoon of olive oil among all 4 filets, drizzling on top of pink side and rubbing in to coat each piece. Sprinkle 1 tsp of Creole seasoning on each filet and rub in with your hands.

Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Place salmon filets in pan skin side up and cook for 4 minutes. Turn them over and cook for another 2 minutes. Transfer to plate and set aside.

Simmering the salmon finishes it nicely while keeping the dish moist.

In the same pan, melt butter and add garlic. Cook for 1 minute and add broth, wine, lemon juice and brown sugar. Mix and bring to low simmer, with small bubbles just starting. Add parsley and parmesan and combine.

Add salmon filets back into pan and simmer for about 4 minutes. Sauce will reduce and thicken, but be careful not to burn.

Plate and serve with sliced lemon and sprinkle of parsley for garnish. See? This is one easy salmon recipe!
